About this blog

This blog was created to have a place to talk about my experiences as a beekeeper, both for my reference and to share the information I learn with others.

In answer to the question posed in the blog title:  yes, bees do have knees. The segments in a bee’s leg are called the coxa, trochanter, femur, tibia metatarsus and tarsus. The joint that “looks like a knee” is the joint between the femur and the tibia, and these two segments share the names of human bones because they are roughly analogous. By extension, the joint between the femur and tibia can quite reasonably be called the knee.
